GASK celebrates the 30th anniversary of the inscription of Kutná Hora on the UNESCO list

This year, GASK is joining the city-wide celebration of the 30th anniversary of Kutná Hora’s inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We will be celebrating this beautiful anniversary with three projects that break out of the gallery to involve the public space.

The first is Kateřina Šedá’s urban participatory project Happy and Merry, which, like her earlier projects Bedřichovice Upon Thames, UNES-CO or Brnox, straddles the line between public art and social architecture. With Happy and Merry, Šedá seeks to activate various groups of local residents and to bring them together in one shared activity to which they will contribute as naturally as possible. 

Another project associated with the UNESCO celebrations is VORTEXT, a new media intervention in public space that aims to artistically reflect the spiritual nature of the city through interactive text projections at seven locations throughout town. Both events will take place in the autumn. 

The third of the UNESCO projects is the festival of experimental and independent music A Day of Sound, which will take place on 14 June 2025 under the direction of composer and music journalist Michal Rataj. During the festival, the historical interiors of the Jesuit College and the adjacent Chapel of Corpus Christi will resound with unusual musical productions and performances, culminating in an evening concert by Austrian organist Klaus Lang.
