Easter holidays in GASK

Easter holidays in GASK
25. 3. 2024

Easter is approaching and we will be open for you throughout the entire holiday – Thursday to Monday during our regular opening hours from 10am until 6pm. At GASK, you can look forward to a wide range of exhibitions (and more), and we hope that your visit will enliven your spring holiday. What all can you expect during this extended weekend?

You can visit DISEGNO INTERNO, an exhibition by the leading Czech surrealists Eva and Jan Švankmajer, V. K. Novák’s Still in Motion, Martina Skala’s Voyage, Jiří Straka’s Silence and ABOUT YOU – Young Women Painters and Sculptors. In addition, starting Saturday, we will again be exhibiting a facsimile of the Kutná Hora illumination, this time in the Projectroom on the gallery’s ground floor. On 1 April, a new joint ticket for three local museums and galleries (GASK, the Czech Museum of Silver and the Vlašský dvůr/Italian Court) will come into effect. This ticket, titled Together… For the Kutná Hora Illumination, provides admission to exhibitions related to the Kutná Hora illumination.

On Saturday, 30 March at 4pm, you can look forward to an accompanying event organised in relation to DISEGNO INTERNO. Titled A Mess of Memories, the event features a collage of literary writings by Eva and Jan Švankmajer, read by Ivana UhlířováJiří Lábus and Vít Malota. The programme also includes a screening of Jan Švankmajer’s film Down to the Cellar and Jiří Brdečka’s film There Was Once a Miller on the River.

During your Easter visit to the gallery, you can relax and take some time out at the GASK café, where you can enjoy choice coffees, local lemonade, excellent cakes and other refreshments. Also worth a visit is the outdoor exhibition Open-air GASK, which has recently been expanded with the addition of a set of sculptures by Jan Hendrych. The gallery has acquired several of this artist’s works in recent years, and some of them will be included in the new permanent exhibition opening in late June.
