GASK’s summer programme offers exhibitions, music, architecture and new circus

The main exhibition of this year’s summer season is Mölzer Kyncl Hilmar 1968–1978. Dedicated to artists Milan Mölzer, František Kyncl and Jiří Hilmar, the exhibition looks at the work of these three Czech exiles and their contacts with the European art scene after 1968. Our permanent exhibition Through the Labyrinth invites visitors to explore a thematically conceived journey through the GASK collection, from the early 20th century to the present day, with a focus on recent acquisitions. The exhibition programme also includes Lukáš Machalický’s Half Board, a large site-specific installation made in response to the architecture of the Jesuit College, as well as the exhibition Radim Langer – TRASUMANAR, which runs until 23 August 2026.

A notable summer event is the music festival A Day of Sound 2026, which takes place on Saturday 27 June from 10 am to 10 pm. The full-day programme, this year subtitled The Journey, brings together contemporary music, visual art and architecture at the gallery, in St Barbara’s Church and in the Chapel of Corpus Christi. The festival culminates with an evening open-air programme in the GASK gardens featuring performances by Robert Piotrowicz and Lenka Dusilová.

In July and August, GASK also opens its doors to fans of history and architecture. On 15 July and 19 August, visitors can tour familiar and lesser-known areas inside the former Jesuit College in the company of GASK librarian Petr Adámek.

The summer programme climaxes on Saturday 22 August at 6pm in the gallery gardens with Splash by the new circus ensemble Cirk La Putyka. The performance invites viewers into a forgotten swimming pool, where four older gentlemen rediscover joy and freedom.

In the summer months, the gallery gardens are the perfect place to relax, enjoy views of Kutná Hora and take in the outdoor exhibition Open-air GASK, which features sculptures and installations by artists from the gallery’s collections and exhibitions. Visitors can find refreshments at Bistro Skleník directly in the gardens and at the GASK Café inside the Baroque building of the Jesuit College.
